2025 – Dancing with what wants to emerge

I remember vividly a participant of an Experimental Jam asking me a while ago, „I sometimes wonder, what is it exactly that I’m trying to get to. For example in the Experimental Jam. Am I going for fitness, to feel connected, or…?“. Her curiosity and genuine willingness to question herself struck me and it felt like a stone was thrown into a lake. „I wonder where we are going, where this is leading“, she continued. I couldn’t fully grasp it, but there was something to her questions, that just lit me up. Maybe it was the sense of wonder, with which she asked those questions. The openness to many possibilities, the willingness embrace the unknown. I could feel that she wasn’t looking for a straight answer. It felt more like a case of serious curiosity. :-)
One of my favourite books is the illustrated version of „Reinventing Organizations“ by Frederic Laloux. As the title suggests, it outlines new ways in which organizations could work, and examples of actual companies that already work successfully in such ways. It also makes a strong case why these new ways are inevitable, as they are a part of an evolutionary process. I won’t go too much more into detail here, but really recommend giving it a read.* In the second part of the book, it poses two powerful questions:
What if we stop trying to force the future into existence? What if instead we simply dance with what wants to emerge?

As the number of participants in the last jams are pushing the limits of the space we currently have, we are invited to look for new ways on how to provide enough space to move. For the past years we have relied on our trusted Tanzdach at Dynamo, with the ever-flowing waters of the river at our feet. Rituals have formed here – the obligatory plunge into the refreshing or icy cold Limmat, depending on the time of year. I wouldn’t wanna miss it, and it complements the sweaty dancing just sooo perfect! At the moment I can’t imagine changing locations. And at the same time I feel a call to grow, to evolve. Another question comes up, to invite curiosity and wonder: “What else can this be?”
So what wants to emerge here? Do we find a bigger location to move into? Or do we offer more events in the hopes of distributing the number of participants? Or …?
I’m ready, and I’m very curious for what wants to emerge. And especially how to dance with it.
Wishing you a happy new year!
Frederic
